The new Aria Piccolo+ from Digibit is said to provide the ultimate music server solution for audiophiles with large music collections in the silver disc or file formats.
The Piccolo+ features a large capacity 3TB hard drive within its svelte high quality 6mm milled brushed aluminium chassis. One of its main claims to fame is a custom software algorithm that specialises in supporting an extremely wide (“unlimited”) range of metadata fields for music categorising. The company claims it’s “the best metadata retrieval in the market”. Users can set up their metadata entries based on music genre and then further refine the categories based on instrument or instrumentalist, for example, and so on in multiple levels, with reciprocal information via Digibit’s SonataDB music database. A free bespoke iaria App has been designed for full control via smart devices.
Absolute Hi End’s proprietor Boris Granovsky told SoundStage! Aside from the support of 384kHz/24-bit resolution, the Aria Piccolo+ also supports DXD and DSD playback at up to DSD256. Analogue outputs are provided via unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR with digital socketry including coaxial S/PDIF, AES/EBU via XLR and USB. Multi-zone streaming is available from UPnP/DLNA networks while the unit can accept NAS drives. File compatibility is extensive with just about every format catered for, from lossless FLAC and ALAC to AIFF and WAV.
